The nightrose Story
Lockdown, Cleveland, Ohio 2020. Sharon (left), on a zoom call with her family in South Africa and her aunt, Jeanette, is showing her new range of Yakira pajamas. Sharon’s recently relocated daughter, Alayna (middle), pops into the zoom frame, wearing one of her own pairs of Yakira pj's, a wardrobe staple during lockdown. This moment sparked the idea that blossomed into nightrose. To bring these vibrant, 100% cotton pajamas to the US. Joined by their friend, Justine (right), who craved an outlet for her wanderlust and creativity, the three set off to bring nightrose to life.

It is the 80's and Jeanette is lounging at a local hotel pool observing the guests come and go. She notices a real gap in the market for transitional, ready to wear fashion that's casual, stylish and cool. So began her lifetime dalliance into creating beautiful clothes. The Yakira Pajama Range is her most recent project and has been a favored by the fashionistas of Cape Town. We are so proud to be bringing her fresh 'Yakira for nightrose' Collection to the USA.
Jeannette's relationship with her producer Tanmay and their employees, who create these hand finished garments, is a cherished one. She tenderly describes the first time she was introduced to him, 18 years ago on the steps of a hotel in Jaipur, ‘It was affection at first sight, he was only 16 years old then- he was pure light ‘ and a lifelong connection was made. Tanmay subsequently took over his father’s operation in Jaipur and has been collaborating with Jeannette ever since.
nightrose will be contributing a portion of all sales to Tanmay's Girl Education Fund to support the education of daughters of employees at the Jaipur factory.
